About us
Children Today was born in 1994 when our founder, Hugh McCaw, saw a problem that needed solving. He felt disabled children were often isolated from activities or unable to live their lives the way they chose, because they didn’t have access to the right mobility and sensory equipment.
Equipment like powered wheelchairs and adapted trikes can be incredibly empowering, offering the chance to ride a bike with friends, to moving around school freely or even a family beach walk.
Yet although this equipment can significantly impact a child's life and wellbeing, it's often so costly that many families can't afford to buy it.
So we began our mission to help as many disabled young people as possible get the equipment they need to access, and participate in, activities we all love. From the everyday things that we can often take for granted, like sitting to the dinner table as a family, to trying new hobbies like cycling or dance, having the right equipment can lead to new opportunities to improve physical mobility, boost self-confidence and even inspire a life-long career.
We’re proud to have changed the lives of thousands of UK families and your support means we can help many more. We invite you to help us break boundaries and support a more inclusive tomorrow for disabled children today.
